How To Watch U-Verse On Computer? AT&T has the best On-demand and Live TV service in my area, which is why I’ve been using their TV+internet package for quite some time.
When I had to travel across the state for an impromptu family reunion over the weekend, I was catching up on a show.
I was curious if I could watch U-Verse on computer, which I could bring with me when I went over to my parents’ house. AT&T U-Verse customers can watch movies and television shows online, as well as watch live streams of select channels such as Fox News and CNN.
This is included as part of any U-Verse TV bundle, with the exception of paid, on-demand content such as movie rentals. Because I didn’t want to use my phone because the screen was too small, I went to AT&T’s website to see if I could watch their content on my laptop.
I also searched the user forum for posts indicating that this was a possibility. I decided to compile everything I’d discovered along with the information I was able to gather from my research into this guide so you’d know if streaming AT&T On-Demand to a PC was truly possible.
You can watch U-Verse (now DirecTV) on a computer by going to the DIRECTV website. Check to see if your computer meets the system requirements, and you’re ready to go. Continue reading to learn why the name was changed, as well as the system requirements for watching DIRECTV on your computer.
WATCH U-VERSE ONLINE
Navigate to the U-Verse Online website and click “Sign in” in the upper right corner. To verify that you are a paying U-Verse customer, you must log in with your AT&T U-Verse credentials. When you log in, you’ll be taken back to the home page, where you can watch various shows and live channels.
You can also sort through the types of content available online by hovering over the “Browse” menu at the top of the page. Use the search bar to the right to enter a specific search term, such as the name of a television show.
CAN I WATCH U-VERSE ON COMPUTER?
U-Verse was renamed DIRECTV in 2016 as part of a rebranding effort, but all features remained the same, including mobile and computer streaming. This means you can watch U-Verse or DIRECTV on your computer no matter where you are.
To watch On-demand content, you must have an active AT&T DIRECTV subscription. Any computer will work as long as it meets the system requirements for the service to run on your browser.
The new, or rather renamed, service is called DIRECTV STREAM, and it includes all of the content that was previously available through U-Verse. This includes all TV shows and movies prior to the name change, and new content is constantly being added to the service.
HOW TO ACHIEVE THIS?
There are a number of methods that will allow you to easily access your AT&T U-Verse subscription and TV access with all of the features on your computer.
To do so, you simply need to ensure that you have the correct account, that it is active, and that you have your credentials. You will need to know the following about it and how to achieve it:

Of course, everyone has an internet browser on their PC, and with AT&T U-Verse, you also get broadband internet, which will assist you greatly in getting it sorted out. All you have to do is go to the AT&T website and you’ll be able to get access.
You simply need to ensure that you are on the website, and the URL is U-verse.com. Once on the website, you will need to log in to your account using your account credentials, and you will be able to log in and access all of the features from your AT&T subscription, including VOD and any recordings that you may have on the network-connected DVR.
ESPN.COM OR FOX.COM
Some of the major networks that have websites offer subscriptions, such as signing up for their accounts and having access to the coverage, or if you want to do it better, you can also access them with the U-Verse subscription, which is the best thing that you can get.
You’ll need to go to their website and click on the TV Provider button. You must click on that to be able to log in to the network using your AT&T U-Verse account credentials.
Once you’ve sorted that out, you’ll not only be able to access all of the channels on the network and their live feeds, but there’s a lot more to it. You will also have access to all of their VOD services, which means you will have a lot of interesting things to do on your PC.
The content will vary depending on the network, but it is supported by several major networks including ABC, CBS, ESPN, FOX, and TNT.
When I first signed up for DIRECTV STREAM, I was spoiled for choice with up to 65,000 On-Demand titles. The service provides access to popular streaming apps such as Netflix and HBO Max via the DIRECTV Stream box or your own streaming device such as a Fire Stick.
In my experience with the various providers I can get, it also has the most regional sports channels among the services available in my area. There is no annual contract, and you can cancel DIRECTV Stream at any time.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS TO WATCH DIRECTV ON A COMPUTER
Almost all computers can watch DIRECTV, but knowing what you need to know to watch the service on your PC can save you time when you put on a movie for your friends.
To watch DIRECTV on Windows, you must have:
- A Windows 10 PC.
- Google Chrome version 59 or higher, or Microsoft Edge version 79 or higher.
- Your Mac should be OS X 10.14.x or higher.
- Chrome version 70 or higher.
- Safari’s latest version.
Most modern PCs can easily meet these requirements, and if your PC is incapable of running Windows 10, consider upgrading it. The same is true if you own a Mac; if you don’t have OS X Mojave or higher, you should consider upgrading.
HOW TO WATCH DIRECTV ON PC OR MAC?
There is no DIRECTV app on your computer that you must install in order to watch the service. You’ll need an up-to-date version of Chrome or Safari, as well as a Windows 10 PC or Mac running OS X Mojave.
To watch DIRECTV on a PC or Mac, follow these steps:
- Open a new browser window.
- Navigate to DIRECTV entertainment.
- Enter your AT&T ID and password to gain access.
- Select Watch Online.
- Look through the titles you want to watch or use the search function to find them.
- Choose the content you want to watch and press the Play button.
You will be prompted to install DIRECTV Player, a piece of software that protects the content on their service from being illegally copied.
- To begin watching, install the Player and refresh the page.
If you see Activate now or Upgrade, it means you haven’t subscribed to the channel you’ve chosen. To watch content with that button, you’ll need to upgrade your plan.
Because AT&T’s packages have largely remained the same, the suite of channels that they offer is quite large. Their basic package, Entertainment, costs $70 per month and includes ESPN, TNT, Nickelodeon, and HGTV, for a total of 65+ channels.
For the first three months, this package includes free access to HBO, SHOWTIME, STARZ, EPIX, and Cinemax. Their top-tier Premier package costs $140 per month and includes HBO Max as well as a few other Streaming services. You can also watch 140+ live channels on it.
Watching DIRECTV on a computer is simple; all you need to do is make sure your computer meets the system requirements. Choose the best plan for you, and only get a higher tier plan if you are certain you will need all of the extra channels.
Other smart streaming devices can also be used with computers. For example, you can use a Fire Stick on a computer to watch Amazon Prime Video TV shows.
You can also get the NFL SUNDAY TICKET as part of the service, as well as sign up for Satellite TV if you want. Keep in mind that when you receive the equipment, there will be a $20 activation fee.
