Why Is Peacock Not On Firestick TV? I’d been watching TV shows on Peacock for a few months when it suddenly stopped working and refused to open. I went through the official Peacock help files and thought I’d explain why Peacock not on Firestick TV step by step:
Begin by shutting down the Peacock app. Selecting it from the apps menu and pressing the menu button accomplishes this. After that, a menu will appear, with one of the options being ‘force stop.’ After you’ve done that, reopen the Peacock app and check to see if it’s working.
That step, along with a reset of your Fire TV stick, will resolve 80 percent of the issues that can cause Peacock to stop working. However, if that does not work for you, there are additional steps you can take. I’ll also go over how to reset your Fire TV stick step by step below.

1. GET A PEACOCK TV SUBSCRIPTION
You’ll need to do this first online. To create an account with Peacock TV, go to their website. Options start at free (really!) and go up from there, so choose what works best for you. What if you don’t have a laptop or a phone? Don’t worry, you can sign up for a subscription later via your Fire TV or Fire TV Stick — we’ll get to that.
2. SEARCH FOR PEACOCK TV ON YOUR FIRE TV DEVICE
After you log in to your Fire TV Stick, the app will take you to your home page. You’ll see the option “Find” on the main menu, directly between the navigations for “Home” and “Live.”
When you navigate over “Find,” the first option is “Search.” Click Search, and either press and hold the voice button on your remote and say “Peacock TV” or type in “Peacock TV.” The Peacock TV app will be your first option: select it.
3. DOWNLOAD PEACOCK TV
You will be able to download Peacock TV immediately after reading the description. Clicking that button will add it to your download queue. It should begin downloading immediately, and when it is finished, you should be able to open the app by clicking the “Play” button.
4. OPEN PEACOCK TV AND LOG IN
If you do not already have a Peacock TV account, you can create one right now. However, if you completed step one on another device, you can go to the top right corner of the page and click “Sign In” to begin watching your shows.
5. ADD PEACOCK TV TO YOUR FIRE TV STICK HOMEPAGE
One surefire way to keep Peacock TV on your Fire TV device’s homepage is to use it frequently. When you go to your Fire TV’s home page, it will usually show you the apps you use the most.
If you want Peacock TV to always be on your FireStick homepage, regardless of how often you use the app, click the button to the right of the settings gear on the main menu: it has three squares and one plus sign and instructs users to “Press SELECT to view all of your apps and channels.“
Select that button, scroll down to Peacock TV, press the three-lined button on your controller, and click “Move to front” or simply “Move,” which will allow you to manually move the app to the desired location on your personal homepage.
PEACOCK NOT WORKING ON FIRE TV:
On the Peacock app, you typically select the show you want to watch and it begins playing immediately. When that doesn’t work, here’s how to get Peacock to work again.
You should take the following actions:
- Force the Peacock app to close.
- Restart your Amazon Fire TV device.
- Examine your internet connection
- Clear the cache of the Peacock app.
- Uninstall and reinstall Peacock.
If you’ve tried everything and still can’t get Peacock to work, keep in mind that Peacock isn’t available in all countries. However, I will go over each of the fixes in detail below so that you can get Peacock working on your Fire TV stick again.
1. Force Close The Peacock App
To force close the Peacock app, navigate to the ‘Apps’ menu at the top of the Fire TV home screen. When you choose it, it will show you all of the apps that you have installed on your Fire TV stick.
Place your cursor over the Peacock app and select the menu option. It’s the button with three horizontal lines on top of each other on the right side of the remote.
In the bottom right corner of the screen, a menu will appear. Select ‘force stop’ and then press the big circular button on your Fire TV stick remote. Then, reopen the Peacock app and test it to see if it’s still working.
2. Restart Your Fire TV Device
Unplug your Fire TV device from the wall to restart it. Then, for 30 seconds, hold down the select button on your Fire TV stick remote while leaving your Fire TV stick device unplugged.
Then, reconnect your Fire TV device to the power source and turn it back on. When it returns to the home screen, select the Peacock app and check to see if it is now operational.
3. Test Your Internet Connection
Without an internet connection, the Peacock app cannot download the files it requires to function. As a result, if the Peacock app isn’t working, double-check that your internet is connected and running at a good speed.
To do so, connect a tablet, computer, or smartphone to the internet connection to which your Firestick is connected. Then open a web browser, such as Google Chrome or Safari, and go to Youtube.com. Then try watching a video.
If you can watch a video on YouTube while using the same internet connection, it’s a good sign that your internet is working properly. If not, you should contact your internet service provider and explain your slow internet speed. Typically, they will assist you in resolving the issue over the phone.
When your internet is back up and running, try opening the Peacock app again. If it is still not working, proceed to the next step.
4. Clear The Peacock App Cache
To clear the Peacock app cache, go to Settings and then Manage installed apps. After that, use your Fire TV stick remote to navigate to the Peacock app and press the menu button. The menu button is the one with three lines stacked on top of each other.
Additional options will be displayed. ‘Clear app cache‘ is one of them. Select that and wait for the cache to be cleared. After that, use the instructions in Step 1 to force stop the Peacock app, and then reopen it.
5. Uninstall Peacock And Reinstall It
The option to uninstall Peacock is located in the same location where you go to clear the cache in Step 4 above.
As a result, simply repeat the steps in Step 4, but instead of selecting clear cache in the final step, select uninstall. Allow Peacock to uninstall before reinstalling it by searching for it in the Apps menu.
FIRESTICK PEACOCK WON’T UPDATE
All of the apps on your Firestick can be set to automatically update. But what if it refuses to update?
As a general rule, restart the Peacock app, restart your Fire TV device, check your internet connection, clear the app cache, and reinstall the Peacock app if none of these work.
This problem is usually resolved by restarting the Peacock app and your Fire TV device. In the section above, I’ve detailed how to complete each of these steps. ‘1’ is written on the first one. ‘Force the Peacock app to close.’
PEACOCK NOT SHOWING UP/FOUND ON FIRESTICK
I once took my Firestick abroad and when I tried to use Peacock, it was not available on my device. Peacock is only available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Ireland, Austria, Italy, Germany, and Spain.
Peacock will not be available for download outside of these countries. Otherwise, if it isn’t visible, you should first download it from the Fire TV stick’s App section.
Select the App option at the top of the screen with your Fire TV stick remote. It will display a list of apps. Go to Featured or Categories to see a list of the available apps.
You can also search for Peacock by holding down the microphone button. Simply say “Search for Peacock Apps,” and the Peacock app should appear. And there is a download option on the screen that appears. Choose it and wait for it to install. Now try to reopen Peacock. However, you must usually enter your login information again first.
