I went online to see what I could find out to help me return Xfinity. I also contacted Comcast Support directly to ensure that I had the correct information. Finally, I decided to compile everything I’d learned into one comprehensive article.
Comcast will require you to return modems, routers, remotes, gateways, television boxes, and the power cords for these devices. The ethernet and coaxial cables can be kept.

WHY WOULD YOU NEED TO RETURN COMCAST EQUIPMENT?
If you are switching to a different plan, moving to a different location, or experiencing difficulties due to faulty devices, you must return the equipment.
1. Changing to a Different Plan
Your current device set may not be compatible with the new plan you choose, whether you are upgrading to a higher plan or downgrading to a lower plan. As a result, you should return your equipment to Comcast and obtain a new set from the company.

Most people prefer the first option because they do not have to wait for the technician to arrive.
4. When You Cancel Your Service
When you sign up for Xfinity, you will receive Xfinity equipment based on the lease. When you cancel the service or refuse to renew it at the end of the term, you must return the equipment.
5. When You Reduce Your Plan
When you downgrade your plan, some of your current equipment will no longer function. You must return the old equipment and request new ones to correspond with your downgrade.

SHOULD YOU RETURN THE CABLES?
The only cable you must return is the power cord, which is unique to the device you were using. The ethernet and coaxial cables do not need to be returned.

The various methods available are as follows:
Drop-off at a nearby UPS location:
Pack the equipment in a sturdy cardboard box and bring it to your local UPS store, where you will be given a shipping label. They will pack and ship your equipment.
Alternatively, you can contact the store and arrange for the devices to be picked up. You will also be given a receipt with a tracking number that you can use to track the location of the package. Keep this safe until the return process is completed.
Visit an Xfinity Store or Comcast Service Center:
You can also go to the nearest Xfinity Store or Comcast Service Center and schedule an appointment by going to Xfinity.com/stores. Take your equipment and leave it there.
When you return your equipment, it will be deducted from your account immediately. You will also receive a receipt confirming the details of your return.
If you are a new customer who has recently purchased Xfinity services (or an existing customer looking to upgrade your plans), you must return or exchange the equipment as soon as possible.
For Xfinity devices, you have 14 days to initiate a return or exchange, but for accessories, you have 30 days.
Save the receipt and keep track of the return:
Regardless of the method of delivery you select, you will receive a transaction receipt containing the device tracking number. You can use this to track the location of your equipment on a regular basis and ensure that it is on its way.
HOW LONG DO YOU HAVE TO RETURN COMCAST EQUIPMENT?
Comcast requires you to return all equipment within ten days of service termination. If you don’t, they’ll charge you the full retail price of the new equipment. They may also levy “incidental costs” as a result of your failure to return the equipment.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON’T RETURN COMCAST EQUIPMENT?
